There have been several national news pieces recently dealing with advance care planning, and how it can be beneficial to patients, family members, and the health care system. This one I found particularly engaging, and share it here for your information. It is about eight minutes long, but well worth the time to view.
In fact, we hope to use this as an introduction at our OSF Care Decisions facilitator trainings, either at the beginning of the session or perhaps as pre-work. This piece includes our friend, Bud Hammes, from Respecting Choices, who was instrumental in helping our work develop.
Others who have viewed this remarked how watching the couples in this clip brought home to them how powerful, and how deep this conversation can be.
Advance care planning is a gift you can give to your family.
