Pediatric Readiness Education

OSF HealthCare Children’s Hospital of Illinois supports the state’s Emergency Medical Services for Children (EMSC) program by providing education, resources and clinical expertise to enhance pediatric readiness. We receive IDPH grant funding to develop and maintain these resources for health care providers and community organizations.

School Nurse Emergency Program

The School Nurse Emergency Care Course (SNEC) supports school nurses in assessing, triaging and treating sick and injured students. The course provides practical emergency care education for school settings. In addition, we have developed Guidelines for the Nurse in the School Setting to offer continued support and serve as a reference.

Decontamination Planning and Response

Illinois Emergency Medical Services for Children (EMSC) provides resources for hospitals and EMS agencies to prepare for the unique needs of children in the case of a disaster. This decontamination planning checklist is designed to assist with decontamination planning and response to ensure the needs of children are met prior to, during and after undergoing decontamination. RSV and Bronchiolitis Education

The rise in respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) cases has led to more emergency department visits and hospitalizations, especially in children under age 1. All clinicians and public health professionals should be aware of how to identify this condition in young children. 

OSF Children’s Hospital offers an online presentation on acute respiratory distress in children, including an opportunity for CMEs if accessed through the Public Health Learning website.
